Young people in Wells offer top tips on technology
News story published: 11 May 2010
People living in the Wells area struggling to keep up with
advances in technology are being encouraged to get top tips from
local youngsters.
A group of pupils from the Alderman Peel High School
in Wells will join with a number of partner agencies to run an
event called Technology Hours.
The event aims to provide people who often struggle with new
technology, such as digital cameras, email accounts and texting,
advice and tips to help with technical problems.
The event is being run as part of Community Action Through Sport
(CATS) by the Wells Area Partnership and the Wells Safer
Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
Guidance will be given by Ben Francis from the Wells Area
Partnership and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Becky
Taylor.
PCSO Taylor said: “The idea is that people, namely the older
generation who find they can’t keep up with the changes in all
things technical, can bring these problems to the sessions and the
young people will be on hand to help.”
CATS is a project which aims to help young people be proactive
in the community.
Technology Hours will be held in Wells Library, Station Road, on
Saturday, May 22, and Saturday, June 5, both between 11am and
midday.
